Emergency Shelters

If you and your family are unable to remain in your home, with friends or neighbors, or at neighborhood, church, or association shelters because of damage caused by the earthquake, there are other emergency shelters available to help you. Officials will designate which shelters will be activated.

The American Red Cross lists the following coastside shelters:

Half Moon Bay High School
Pescadero High School

Adcock Community Center, HMB
Bell Building/New Hall/Old Hall, HMB
Cabrillo Unified School District Office, HMB
El Granada Elementary School
Farallone View Elementary School, Montara
Hatch Elementary School, HMB
Kings Mountain Elementary School
La Honda Elementary School
Pescadero Elementary School
Seton Medical Center Coastside
YMCA Camp Loma Mar, Pescadero Road

These shelters are opened (1) when the Red Cross is notified by local emergency officials and (2) in consultation with the shelter sponsoring agency. Try to ascertain which shelters are open before going to one. Not all shelters are likely to be opened at once.

Shelter designations may change from time to time. You may check for current locations at www.coastsidecommunityfirst.com , with local officials or the American Red Cross.
